Reading a bedtime story has been part of my son's nighttime routine, but at around age 10 months, my son started showing interest in books (instead of just hitting or throwing them). His favorite type of books are small books that he can hold by himself. He loves interactive books that have flaps he can open, such as “Open the Barn Door.” The other type of book he likes are touch and feel books, such as “Little Feet Love.” It's exciting to see him showing interest in books, and it reinforces the importance of putting story-time into Baby’s daily/nightly routine to encourage a love of reading!
