Brave for Benjamin: Anthony Rizzo & a Lemonade Stand Are Taking a Swing at Cancer (#WeGotThis!) by Mike Prochaska
Chicago Cub's Anthony Rizzo understands the importance of giving back to the community and helping those in need. He has a big heart and is one my favorite current Cubs players.
Rizzo friended a fellow cancer survivor named Benjamin Burke at Lurie Children's Hospital. When Rizzo first met Benjamin, he brought him a Cubs jersey to sign. Benjamin has even been to batting practice to catch up with Rizzo. I think it is amazing that the two of them have such a great bond and that Rizzo is doing everything in his power to make his young friend's day.
For the third year, the Burke family is supporting the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation's Walk-Off for Cancer with a virtual lemonade stand, and they hope to raise $50,000. Those who donate $100 or more are entered into a raffle for tickets to Cubs games and gear signed by Anthony Rizzo. The Walk-Off for Cancer event also doubled as a blood drive and signup for bone marrow donations. You can donate at the virtual lemonade stand through December.
