Why? I recommend this book because it lays the foundation to not only understand what's going on in your child's brain, but also how we as humans all develop those emotional skills we need to succeed in life.

The idea that we all have different areas of the brain that serve different functions has been such a support for parents trying to understand where their child's behavior, thoughts and feelings come from. In learning concepts such as how to have conflict in a family, naming emotions and getting better at making memories, I have seen families thrive and reconnect on deeper levels than just discipline and rule setting. It's in these concepts of emotional intelligence and brain science that actually teach parents to be gentler with themselves so that they can have the space to be gentler with their children. 

"The Whole-Brain Child" gives such a great, easy-to-understand foundation for parents to reconnect to their child, develop healthy expectations for their parenting and their families, and raise emotionally healthy children.
