Sesame Place: The World’s First Autism-Certified Theme Park! by Renee

As if we needed another reason to love Sesame Street! Last year, "Sesame Street," the popular children's television series, introduced Julia as their first muppet with autism. This year, Sesame Place, the Sesame Street theme park owned and operated by SeaWorld Entertainment with a license from Sesame Workshop, is the first theme park ever to be “Autism Certified.”

Sesame Place team members are trained in the areas of sensory and emotional awareness, motor skills and communication in order to help provide every family with an enjoyable visit. Ride accessibility and sensory guides are available to help parents plan activities based on their child’s specific needs. Other accommodations offered include:

• noise canceling headphones

• quiet rooms

• low-sensory areas for times when kids may need to take a break

The park offers low-sensory parade-viewing options for guests who want to enjoy the parade without character interaction and dining suggestions for guests looking for a quieter dining environment.
