Chocolate pies are always at hit, but especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. While my family loves my grandma's pecan pie, pumpkin pie and apple pie, this chocolate chess pie recipe from Laurice's Kitchen is destined to be a favorite this year.
Serve this chocolate chess pie with whipped cream and garnish with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings. Store the leftovers in an airtight container.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour
Total Time: 55 to 70 minutes
Servings: Makes 1 pie
Ingredients
- 1 9-inch pie crust
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Here's how to make it:
- Line an 8-inch deep dish pie plate with the pie crust. Put the chopped semisweet chocolate onto the bottom. Set aside.
- Whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add the vanilla, butter, salt and evaporated milk. Stir until well combined. Stir in the cocoa powder and flour.
- Pour the filling into the pie crust. Set the pie on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 45 minutes to 1 hour or until filling is just set. Remove and cool completely.
