Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: Makes about 32 sticks
Ingredients
- 6 cups crispy cheese puffs, such as Cheetos® (divided)
- 1 pound ground chicken breast
- 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing
Here's how to make it:
- Add the Cheetos® to a food processor or blender and grind to fine crumbs.
- In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, chicken bouillon, garlic powder, paprika, 1/4 cup of the cheese puff crumbs, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper with your hands until combined. Press the chicken mixture into an 8-inch square baking dish that's been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
- Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 7 to 10 minutes. Remove and cool slightly, then turn it out onto a cutting board. Cut into 4x1/2-inch sticks.
- Fill a skillet about halfway with vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat to 350 degrees F.
- Put the flour, eggs and remaining cheese puff crumbs in separate shallow dishes. Season the flour with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Dip each chicken stick first in the flour, then in the egg, then in the crumbs.
- Fry the sticks in the hot oil, turning often, until crispy, about 1 minute. (Don't over crowd the pan.) Remove to a paper towel. Serve hot with ranch dressing.
